I can help you achieve your dream! I handle projects of all sizes, from finding solutions to irritating problems, renovation of existing landscaping, a simple design for a new area or a master plan for your whole property! Your priorities are my priorities.
I am doing this myself!
My family and I are in the process of renovating our own new-to-us home, so I know only too well how important this planning is. We are fortunate enough to have found property with great bones, built in 1880, that we can renovate and work to make our own.
When should you call me?
The earlier in the process that you call me, the more I can help co-create a vision for the exterior of your home. By starting early in the process, we can choose which natural features to maintain or enhance during the building process.

After you and I have walked the site and you have explained your vision, I will develop a concept plan depicting the elements of your property.

Once you and I have collborated on the design and are happy with direction, the next steps may be adding dimensions to the space for us to mark out on the site or to have a landscape contractor come and give you a bid for the project.

As you and I develop your concept, it may be important to have an intermediate step for us to meet and agree on the locations and to go over additional sketches in 3-D, similar to these, where I wanted to show my client the sizes of the veggie gardens plots and compost bins.

During the design process, you and I will evaluate circulation patterns and make sure they all work for your current needs. On this project, the client wanted to see what it would look like if we added in a drop off road along the front of the house. In the end, this wound up taking up too much of the front and interfered with constraints, but it is always good to explore the options so you and I know the answer.

Once the concept plan is produced, I have found it helpful to provide a perspective of the outdoor spaces so we can both visualize the space in 3 dimensions. In this case, our client wanted a backyard to entertain large groups.

You and I have just completed the concept plan and I am sure you are wondering where do we go from here. The next step is drawings to give to a contractor to use when generating bids and and later, to build from. I will prepare detailed plans that the contractor can use. No need to worry, I will be with you every step of the process.

As I prepare the detailed construction plans, one of the most important plans to provide is the layout and materials plan. This plan will be referenced many times during the construction process. In this plan, there were actually two levels (top floor roof deck and ground floor).

As you and I work through all of the details of the project, I will also draw the elevations of elements to convey the design intent. In this rendering, wall patterns are shown from above. It was important for the contractor to understand the wall pattern and where the fireplace was going to go.
